Suddenly the people willing and able to code LyX’s gnome frontend have gone from 0 to 3. I’m hoping we’ll be able to churn out an alpha version fairly quickly. The hardest thing about doing the frontend has been the speed at which HEAD moves. One person can’t really keep up with several. Especially when the core commiters are so highly skilled.
My plan is to focus on the Painter and WorkArea classes (and the rest that go along with it), once that’s done, and by done I mean compiles links and doesn’t segfault, we can focus on the dialogs. With all the dialogs implemented we can start cleaning them up one by one. Most likely by consulting with the Gnome Usability project and the gnome community. Then hopefully it becomes a maintenance job.
Hopefully Martin Craig & Walter H. van Holst will be the kick in the arse I needed to get this thing going again.
