What Feeds do I read?

The feeds I subscribe to are now available online.

Having just discovered RSS, Yorrike has been looking for Atom/RSS feeds to subscribe to. I had a slow saturday morning, so I whipped up a quick python script. It extracts the feeds I subscribe to from my FeedDemon cache folder and generates a nicely formatted HTML page. I’ve just started recategorising them so the groupings may not seem to consistent. As always, if you have anything to add to the list just drop me a line.

Now, before anyone asks, the reason I haven’t created an OPML file for this is simple, I agree with the Planet GNOME guys. OPML is ‘the most horrific abuse of XML known to man’.

It saves a bunch of hand work if you just hold your nose and transfer your OPML files to your website, then format them live with XSLT. Here’s a PHP script I use: http://blog.crispen.org/blogroll/opml2html.txt and here’s the XSLT script it calls: http://blog.crispen.org/blogroll/opml.xsl.txt. And here it is in action: http://blog.crispen.org/blogroll/opml2html.php?opmlfile=WebAuthoring
