Found a Host

This site is now hosted with the great folks at TextDrive. They’re everything I wanted in a hosting provider, and more. If you’re in the market, check them out.

My search for hosting is over, this site is now hosted with the great folks at TextDrive. They had a few things going for them:

1. Met all my requirements (FreeBSD I can live with)
2. Brad Choate works for them
3. Very cheap.

The main concern I had about moving to a hosting provider was that I’d lose the flexibility that comes from administering your own server. To try and maximise flexibility, I sought out a nice, small provider, I decided to sign up with Brad’s hosting service, I’d used his software in the past, and he clearly knows what he’s doing. Over the weekend I discussed various things with him in a series of emails, and by the end of the conversation (nicely archived by gmail) I knew that this was exactly what I wanted.

So imagine my surprise when I go to sign up and see that Brad’s now working for Dean Allen at TextDrive. I double checked that I could still get what I wanted, and signed up. The support is, quite simply, fantastic. Brad & Jason know their stuff, and the systems are very impressive. Especially the log analyser.
