It strikes me, that the main reason Microsoft is more open than Apple, is probably that Microsoft haven’t shipped anything major for almost 5 years. Being open is the only way for them to get any buzz at all, otherwise we’d have nothing but security holes and point upgrades to talk about. Apple ships exciting things all the time; things people care about; things people talk about.

This isn’t about Apple being bad, it’s about Microsoft having no other option but to get Scoble and the other bloggers out there talking about what great things are coming in mid 2006.
