Akismet certainly does stop spam

Wordpress’ content filtering has done a pretty good job for me, spam rarely made it through. But the real problem I faced was the deluge of ‘moderation’ emails, every morning I had to wade through 40 odd emails, and click through to the wordpress interface. It got so bad that I just ignored comments in the queue and marked everything as spam.

I installed akismet a few days ago, and nothing has made it through so far. Akismet combined with TextDrive recently-updated mod_security rules has led to a spam free existence for me.

I’m confident that the scumbags will start attacking akisment soon enough, but I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.
